Give-A-Gift

GW staff donate to give-a-gift

About

Give-A-Gift is a signature event and tradition at the George Washington University where all members of the GW community -- students, faculty, staff and alumni -- provide holiday gifts to families in Washington, D.C.

For over 25 years, the GW community has stepped forward to support our neighbors with gifts for the holidays.

Thank you to our 2023 Give-A-Gift donors! With your help, we were able to give over 750 gifts to more than 250 kids, teens, and parents in the D.C. community.

How it Works

We are no longer accepting new gifts for the 2023 year. Give-A-Gift will return in November 2024.

You can sign up as an individual or start a team with your department/student organization to purchase gifts this holiday season for an individual or a family. Give-A-Gift donors pledge to support one or more individuals served by the community partners below. We ask that you purchase three gifts for each individual. Adults will receive one clothing item, one household item, and one fun item. Children will receive one clothing item, one educational item, and one fun item. All three gifts should total approximately $75 per individual. Please honor this number so we can ensure equitable gift distribution to families.

Gift recipients are identified by Washington, D.C. agencies and community partners. This year our partners include the Academy of HopeCentroNía, Latin American Youth Center, Housing Up!, D.C. Department of Human Services, and DCPS Connected Schools.
