Global Careers & Sexual Harassment: Workplace Strategies to Confront the Challenge and Thrive
Friday, December 1, 2017
Elliott School of International Affairs, Room 505
11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Ambassador (Ret.) Prudence Bushnell
and
Chelsea Rose Ullman, MPP

The "me too" hashtag is lifting a veil that has hidden an ugly reality of the workplace, and it reflects a situation that is neither recent nor limited to any geographical region. Across the United States and the world, women and men are finally stepping forth to say “enough!” In this session, Ambassador Prudence Bushnell will lead a discussion for students on the topic of sexual harassment and career strategies to confront and survive it. She will be joined by GW’s own Chelsea Rose Ullman, who will provide a data and research bridge to our university and the wider movement, pointing to the Red Flag campaign information, which highlights strategies and tools for anyone experiencing sexual violence of any kind, and to other useful information in the field. Please join us!

Co-sponsors: Leadership Ethics and Practice initiative (LEAP)
Program on Gender Equality in International Affairs (GEIA)
Office of Graduate Student Services (GSS)

Ambassador Bushnell has a distinguished career in the U.S. Foreign Service, eventually serving as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs (1993-1996), Ambassador to the Republics of Kenya (1996-1999) and Guatemala (1999-2002), and as Dean of the Leadership and Management School at the Foreign Service Institute (2002-2005). She now consults on a range of international and leadership issues.

Chelsea Ullman is a policy associate with the Global Women’s Institute and a double alumna of the George Washington University. As an undergraduate, Chelsea was selected for a Presidential Administrative Fellowship, which offers high-achieving seniors the opportunity for professional development and a Master’s degree at the George Washington University.
