Fraught Frontier (2/26/22) Sign-Up Form

Join us for our annual collaboration with the Elliott School's Leadership, Ethics, and Practice (LEAP) Initiative as we delve into the future of the US-Mexico migrant crisis. In this simulation, we will explore the political and ethical ramifications of the migrant crisis on the U.S.'s southern border with Mexico.

With the encroaching heat and droughts of the La Niña summer and an increase in organized crime and violence in the Northern Triangle countries and Mexico, U.S. and Mexican officials have witnessed a substantial increase in border crossings. This growth in migration has also allowed cartels to begin smuggling a dangerous new drug over the border. Both of these conditions have placed substantial domestic and international pressure on Mexico and the U.S. With this unprecedented combination of events, will Mexico and the U.S. work together to solve this crisis or will the pressures of the situation cause their delicate relationship to crack?

Fraught Frontier will take place on Saturday, February 26th, 2022, from 12:00 PM EST to 5:00 PM EST. This simulation will be held in GWU's Funger Hall permitting the university allows us to have in-person events. If this is not possible, the simulation will be held on Discord, a free communications platform ideal for handling large numbers of people in flexible team-aligned channels.

If you are NOT a GW affiliated student or faculty member you must follow GW COVID-19 policy:

Please note that the simulation is capped at 60 participants, and any sign ups in excess of this number will be waitlisted. In the event that we have to waitlist participants, those participants will be eligible for priority registration for SCS' next simulation, and will be notified of this via email.
SCS simulations are designed based on the number of participants that plan attend our events. Therefore, registrants who fail to attend the event without giving prior notification (a minimum of 12 hours before the event) will be unable to register for the next simulation. Anyone affected by this policy will be allowed to return after skipping one simulation. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we will implement this policy in a spirit of flexibility and accomodation to the extent possible.
