Run in the Third Annual Heel-to-Heal

support the GW Healing Clinic!
The GW Healing Clinic will host its Third Annual Heel-to-Heal 5K walk/ run on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at the Alexandria Aqueduct (Georgetown Visitor Center to Alexandria Aqueduct to Fletcher's Cove).
Check-in starts at 8am and the race begins at 9am. *Note: This weekend is Daylight Savings!!! Be sure to turn your clocks BACK one hour and get there at the correct 8am!
In previous years, the 5k event raised over $20,000 annually for the Healing Clinic. “We are excited to continue the Healing Clinic 5k tradition,” says Aislynn Raymond, Co-Director of the clinic. “The event is a lot of fun and the money raised directly supports our programs. This year, we've doubled the number of clinic nights and added even more services for our clients. Our goal for this event is to raise $30,000.”
The GW Healing Clinic is an entirely student run effort that affords students the opportunity to more fully engage in our community. Fundraising is now more important than ever as it will help sustain our nutrition, HIV testing and counseling, healthy living, and smoking cessation programs as well as our clinic at Bread for the City.
Help us reach our goals for this school year of:
- Increasing our community presence and outreach by bringing healthcare services directly to the areas that need them most
- Continuing our partnership with the GW Public Service Commission and providing free preventative health screenings throughout the underserved communities of the Washington, DC area.
We welcome all walkers and runners, especially those from the GW community and their families and friends. Our event is a medical costume race, so get creative and have fun! Check our our flickr page to see some of the great costumes from previous races.
We have several fabulous prizes for best costumes and for top fundraisers including a one year subscription to Picmonic, Step 1 or 2 High Yield Course from Kaplan, Step 1 prep course from Doctors in Training, dinner and 1 night stay at Fairmont Washington DC, and more!
