Other Notable Actions
President Biden issued Executive Order 14037 that sets a goal to have "50% of all new passenger cars and light trucks sold in 2030 be zero-emission vehicles, including battery electric, plug-in hybrid electric, or fuel cell electric vehicles." The order also directs regulators to consider revising existing or establishing new standards for medium- and heavy-duty engines and vehicles. To accomplish these goals, the EO sets several rulemaking targets for the Dept. of Transportation and the Environmental Protection Agency.
The Environmental Protection Agency issued a proposed rule to make more stringent greenhouse gas emissions standards for light-duty vehicles for 2023 and beyond. Comments due September 27.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services issued a proposed rule to rescind the MFN Model interim final rule published in November 2020 that "would test an alternative way for Medicare to pay for certain Medicare Part B single source drugs and biologicals." Comments due October 12.
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency issued a final rule removing an October 2020 final rule that was nullified via the Congressional Review Act on June 30.
