The Dept. of Education issued an interpretation regarding the ability of the agency to preempt state laws related to "unfair or deceptive practices, correcting misapplied payments, or addressing refusals to communicate with borrowers." Effective August 12 with comments due September 13.
The Food & Nutrition Service issued an interim final rule "to strengthen and improve the integrity and accuracy of the Food and Nutrition Service Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Quality Control system." Effective August 13.
The Environmental Protection Agency issued a notice of availability of the agency's ambient water quality criteria for total nitrogen and phosphorus concentrations in lakes and reservoirs.
The Dept. of Education issued a request for information on how the agency can identify priority questions to develop an evidence-building plan that improves programs, policies, and regulations. Comments due September 16.
The Dept. of Homeland Security extended the comment period for a Dec. 2016 interim final rule that amended procedures for victims of human trafficking seeking "T nonimmigrant" status. Comments due September 14.
