The Biden Administration released its Unified Agenda of Regulatory and Deregulatory Actions on December 10.
Energy Conservation
The Dept. of Energy issued two rulemakings that undo Trump administration changes. A final rule effective January 12, amends standards and test procedures for consumer products and certain commercial equipment. A proposed rule would require a 45 lumens per watt backstop for general service lamps, comments due January 27.
Consumer Information and the FTC
The Federal Trade Commission issued two final rules related to data security at financial institutions. One modifies the definitions of “financial institution” and “Federal functional regulator” as part of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, effective January 10. The other seeks to improve the accountability of financial institutions' information security programs, effective January 10. The FTC is also seeking related comments until February 7.
The Dept. of Homeland Security issued a request for public input "on recommendations for ways to minimize the separation of migrant parents and legal guardians and children." Comments due January 10.
