The Employment & Training Administration issued an interim final rule amending regulations governing the prevailing wages for employment opportunities that U.S. employers seek to fill with foreign workers on a permanent or temporary basis through certain employment-based immigrant visas or through H-1B, H-1B1, or E-3 nonimmigrant visas. This rule is effective October 8 and comments are due November 9.
The Dept. of Homeland Security also issued an interim final rule amending definitions in the H-1B visa program. This rule is effective December 7 and comments are due November 9 as well.
The Internal Revenue Service issued final regulations clarifying the agency's definition of a "qualifying relative." Effective October 13.
The Environmental Protection Agency issued a final rule to revise the technology-based effluent limitations guidelines and standards (ELGs) for the steam electric power generating point source category. Effective December 14.
The Securities & Exchange Commission issued a final rule amending the definition of an "accredited investor." Effective December 9.
The SEC also issued an order regarding various licenses under the accredited investor designation. Effective December 8.
The Dept. of Housing & Urban Development issued a proposed rule amending inspection and voucher requirements under the Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act of 2016. Comments due December 7.
