Religion, Rights, and Reform: A Panel Discussion on Women's Political Participation in the Middle East and North Africa
The George Washington University’s Honors Society for International Affairs, Sigma Iota Rho, will be hosting a panel discussion on women’s political participation in the Middle East and North Africa as their opening fall event.  The panel will feature Caroline Hubbard of the National Democratic Institute, Dr. Alessandra González of Princeton University, Rebecca Lowenkron of the Arab Women’s Leadership Institute, and Dr. Kelly Pemberton of The George Washington University.  Milad Pournik, Research Associate at the Global Gender Program at the Elliott School of International Affairs, will moderate the panel.  Given the recent developments in the region, this discussion aims to shed light on the current situation for both female voters and politicians.  The panelists will discuss their work in the region, the recent gains that have been made, and the challenges that lie ahead for women.
