Join us! The GWU Department of Speech & Hearing Science is excited to present Guillermo Florez’s film “Speechless – what would your life be like without language?” The film is sponsored by the Independent Film Project www.ifp.org. The documentary examines clients who have all suffered a stroke and have been dealing with the consequences of its associated aphasia. The Director and Producer, Mr. Florez welcomes your questions following the screening in an interactive discussion along with a panel of GWU Speech and Hearing Center clients with aphasia who can share their own experiences with the audience.

  • An understanding of communication for human identity, & the social consequences of its loss
  • The effects of aphasia on the lives of significant others, not just the person with aphasia
  • World Health Organization’s declaration of health as a human right
