Join your fellow Colonials in Boston for an engaging discussion of Russia’s role in the world. Elliott School Research Professors Robert Orttung and Sufian Zhemukhov will examine Russia's role in current international politics, including its relationship with the U.S., cyber warfare efforts, and initiatives in the Arctic. All GW community members are welcome.

Robert Orttung is a research professor of international affairs at GW's Elliott School of International Affairs. He has published widely on Russian politics, including recent books entitled Putin's Olympics and Sustaining Russia's Arctic Cities. His current research focuses on Russia's on-line propaganda efforts.

Sufian Zhemukhov is an associate research professor of international affairs at the Elliott School's Institute for European, Russian and Eurasian Studies. He has published on the Olympics and the role of the hajj pilgrimage to Mecca in the life of Russian Muslims. Additionally, he recently won third place in the story slam competition of the National Storytelling competition.
